Some of my fondest memories growing up were sharing the couch with my mother as she chose one of her favourite movies for us to watch. Cuddled up in front of the fireplace watching Humphrey Bogart or Tony Curtis, I was blindly swept up in the world of film. I remember sitting next to my father in the cinema, hearing him sniffle softly, not realizing that those were the moments that helped us build a connection to each other.
I never knew what I wanted to do when I grew up; I loved to learn and was feverishly curious about the world and the stories it had to tell. I guess I’m still unsure what path I should take in life, but I do know that sharing stories is part of it. I am fortunate enough to be able to go through life a step at a time, experiencing the things I’m passionate about.
I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a specialization in film production from Concordia University. Meeting so many wonderfully talented people really gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my own dreams.
I recently completed my work with small digital public affairs agency MediaStyle, based in Ottawa, Ontario. During my almost three years there, I honed my skills as a video producer and community manager to grow audiences and reinforce relationships with online communities.
As I take the next step in my life, I am full of excitement and anticipation. I am currently planning the production of my first non-student documentary, which deals with a subject very close to my heart: the perception of cultural identity from people of mixed-race families.
I have also joined friend and fellow business partner Jesse Kaunisviita at Third Son, lending my communications and video production skills to help grow his business. Third Son focuses on the little details that bring your home to life, handmade with lasers and love.
If you have a story you’d love to share, or would like to discuss collaboration, don’t be shy to connect!
